Classes Taught: Belly Dancing

I started dancing in 1993 after I had a partial prolapse due to a hysterectomy.  I found the dance helped with the repair of the pelvic floor muscles. It is also very good for the back and the posture of the body. Not only that but it improves self-esteem and confidence. It’s a dance that was danced by women, for women.
I began teaching in 1997 and by this time, was a member of a dance troupe, which danced at various events around Northamptonshire.
This dance form is very gentle. It doesn’t matter what age or size you are. It might not help you lose weight but it does help firm up muscles. Due to the problems I have with my knees, I only ever do as much as feels comfortable for my body and I would recommend that anyone else does the same. You know your body much better that I do and you know what your body is capable of.

What I can promise is that anyone who wants to learn this dance form will find it totally addictive and will be surprised at how much they are able to accomplish.
I’m hoping to go through various movements and teach everyone a simple dance during the six weeks of this course. All you need is a long skirt or leggings and a scarf to go around your hips. I do have some hip belts I can lend out during classes if needed. Be prepared to have FUN, to LAUGH and ENJOY yourselves.
