As counsellor and psychotherapist, I believe that therapy is about more than problem-solving. At its best it offers a resource for healing, creativity and spirituality.
Stephen was a teacher and a priest before training first as a relationship counsellor, then as a UKCP-registered psychotherapist and supervisor at CCPE, London. For the past 15 years he has worked as counsellor on a gay men’s sexual health project and in private practice in London and now in Rye, as well as presenting workshops and retreats throughout the country.
He uses Psychodynamic and Transpersonal approaches to his work. He is particularly interested in exploring the emergence of the true self – the person you are underneath the layers of conformity, habit or compulsion which maintain emotional pain, negative thinking or destructive behaviour.
Stephen works with individuals, couples and supervises other therapists and health care professionals. Alongside conventional talking therapy, he works with dreams, artwork, photography, body awareness, visualisation and guided meditation. He also offers walking therapy and online therapy as an alternative to meeting in the consultation room.
